Resolution - Parks and Recreation: Consider a resolution ratifying and accepting the acts of the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department, in executing the Kids and Cops Dream Court Grant Agreement, by and between the City of Lubbock and the Nancy Lieberman Charities, from the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, for programming at the City's Dream Courts.

Item Summary

Accepting this grant of $10,500 provides funds to the Parks and Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Community Engagement Task Force of the Lubbock Police Department. The programming funds will afford area youth the chance to interact with Lubbock Police Department Officers and Parks staff, building relationships and extending fitness opportunities to the community. Programming must take place on one, or both of the City’s existing Dream Courts. The first one is located at Mae Simmons Park, 2004 Oak Avenue, and the most recent one is in Duran Park at 26th Street and Kewanee Avenue. The grant funds must be spent by September of 2022.

Fiscal Impact

4 quarterly payments in the amount of $2,625 will be made, for a total of $10,500.
