Regular City Council Meeting
Resolution - Engineering:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Amendment 1 to Contract 15282, with Freese and Nichols, Inc., for providing engineering services for the final design of Downtown Sanitary Sewer Line Improvements Project.
Selected segments of the existing sewer system in the northern portion of Downtown Lubbock will need to be expanded and rehabilitated in order to provide adequate wastewater collection capacity for current and future sewer flows in the area. The Wastewater Collection System Model indicated that the anticipated peak wastewater flows generated by the Buddy Holly Performing Arts Center, Citizens Tower, Police Headquarters, Lubbock Convention Center Hotel, and other proposed developments would overload the existing infrastructure, causing potential sewer spills and overflows.
The original Contract 15282 for preliminary design services provided surveying, inspection of the existing sewer infrastructure, and a recommended solution and route for new and rehabilitated sanitary sewer infrastructure to serve the downtown sewer shed. The scope of work for Amendment 1 to Contract 15282 includes full design, construction contract documents, and bid phase services. Amendment 1 will increase the not-to-exceed amount by $685,127 and add 540 days to the contract.
$900,000 is appropriated in Capital Improvement Project 92657, Downtown Sewer Line Replacement, with $685,127 available for this purpose.
