On December 3, 2019, the City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance.
In recent months, it has been brought to staff's attention that the provision in the Zoning Code of a special exception to allow mobile homes and travel trailers for dwelling purposes in any zoning district, only allows approval in cases of "extreme personal hardship." However, this has not been adhered to over the years and approvals have become more frequent, without evidence of an extreme personal hardship. Therefore, staff received direction from the City Council to propose an amendment to remove this provision from the Zoning Code.
Staff recommends approval of the request. The Planning and Zoning Commission heard this case on November 7, 2019, and recommended approval of the request by a unanimous vote.
