Regular City Council Meeting
Resolution - Water Operations:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Purchase Order 22300063 with Municipal Valve and Equipment, for the purchase of large diameter valves for Pumping Station No. 4.
The City of Lubbock utilizes Pump Station No. 4 to distribute potable drinking water to the citizens of Lubbock in the eastern section of the city. All of the piping and valves at this facility are original parts of equipment that were installed when the pump station was built in the 1940s. These valves are critical to enable full functionality to move potable water between Pump Station No. 4 and the newly constructed Pump Station No. 16. The City of Lubbock Water Distribution System Master Plan recommends these changes to the pumping operations for Pump Station No. 4 due to the age of the pump station and the growing demand on the water system.
This purchase includes the replacement of eight (8) valves connected to the facility piping that are no longer functional and cannot be repaired. The new valves will provide the capability to route potable water within the water distribution system and utilize the new Pump Station No. 16 in a more effective and efficient manner.
Proposals were reviewed and compared to the specifications. All components of the proposal met the required specifications. Staff recommends award of Purchase Order 22300063 to Municipal Valve and Equipment for $67,150.
$2.8 million is appropriated in Capital Improvement Project 91033, Pumping System Improvements, with $67,150 available for this purchase.
