The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has identified the route for the proposed State Highway Loop 88 outer loop corridor. The limits of the proposed route are currently encompassing existing water and sewer infrastructure owned by the City of Lubbock. Pursuant to State rules and current intergovernmental agreements in effect, the City is required to relocate approximately 5,500 linear feet of existing 48-inch sanitary sewer lines and 2,800 linear feet of a 12-inch water line that falls within the limits of the proposed construction.
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA), is the Engineer-of-Record of the major sewer interceptor located along FM 1585 from University Avenue to Indiana Avenue, that will need to be relocated ahead of the Loop 88 project. Contract negotiations were conducted with KHA for performing preliminary and final design for the project. Fair and reasonable hourly rates were agreed upon for a total amount not to exceed $529,400. Portions of this project located within existing easements will be reimbursable by TxDOT.
