Ordinance 2nd Reading - Planning: Consider Ordinance No. 2020-O0011, amending Chapter 40 “Zoning” of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, by amending the minimum yard requirements for the Two-Family (R-2) Zoning District.

Item Summary
On January 28, 2020, the City Council approved the first reading of the ordinance.

This proposal is to amend the setback requirements for structures in the Two-Family (R-2) zoning district. In December 2017, the Reduced Setback Single-Family (R-1A) zoning district was adopted, which reduced the required setbacks for single-family homes in this district to the following: 20-foot front setbacks, 18-inch rear setbacks for one story wing or extensions, and 5-foot side setbacks adjacent to a street.

Amending the setbacks in the R-2 zoning district to match the setbacks outlined above will allow for consistent development throughout neighborhoods. The Planning and Zoning Commission heard this case on January 2, 2020, and recommended approval of the request by a unanimous vote.
