Regular City Council Meeting
Resolution - Engineering:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Cost Sharing and Reimbursement Agreement between the City of Lubbock and Lubbock County, for cost sharing of the Indiana Avenue Corridor Design.
The Indiana Avenue corridor from 130th Street to 146th Street is identified as a Major Arterial Street for the collection of the traveling public. Due to development along the Indiana Avenue corridor, the County strip paving along the roadway is receiving more traffic than it is able to carry and as a result, requires a great deal of maintenance. In addition, the level of service for this roadway is less than desirable for traffic volumes. The City of Lubbock has selected Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc., to provide design services for Indiana Avenue from 130th Street to 146th Street.
Lubbock County desires to participate through a Cost Sharing and Reimbursement Agreement to extend the design of Indiana Avenue from 146th Street to County Road 7600 (Woodrow Road). Lubbock County will be funding the design of this portion of Indiana Avenue. This will allow Lubbock County and the City of Lubbock to design the entire portion of Indiana Avenue with one Professional Service Agreement, which will allow for a more efficient design and result in overall cost savings.
Under this agreement, the City of Lubbock will engage Parkhill, Smith & Cooper, Inc., for the full design of Indiana Avenue from 130th Street to County Road 7600 and Lubbock County will reimburse the City up to $600,000 for their portion of the design services.
The City of Lubbock portion is funded in Capital Improvement Project 92625, Indiana Avenue from 130th Street to 146th Street, and the remainder will be funded from the Lubbock County contribution of $600,000.
