Resolution - Engineering:
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Change Order No. 1 to Contract 14354, with Utility Contractors of America Inc. for the construction of the Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Rehabilitation, Phase 2.
Construction work is progressing on the Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor that serves the northwest and northeast sewer sheds of Lubbock. The purpose of this pipeline rehabilitation project is to improve the reliability of the Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Interceptor.
The City Council authorized Contract 14354 with Utility Contractors of America Inc., of Lubbock, Texas on January 22, 2019, with a contract price of $5,825,039.00 and 330 calendar days for construction time. The Notice to Proceed was issued on March 25, 2019.
Change Order No. 1 will cover 2 proposed modifications. The first modification added length of pipe and manholes to improve the reliability of the City of Lubbock sanitary sewer system and reduce the risk of overflows in the area. It also included additional funding for bypass pumping during construction. The second modification provided for the installation of a collapsed section of pipe and the repair of a failed pipe section.
The net increase in contract price due to Change Order No. 1, is $226,879.90. Furthermore, the change order approves 150 days of additional construction time. The amended contract amount is $6,051,918.90.
$16,500,000.00 is appropriated in Capital Improvement Project 92318, Canyon Lakes Sanitary Sewer Mains Rehabilitation, of which $15 million is designated for the construction phase. With this change order of $226,879.90, the total expended and committed funds for the construction phase equals $13,760,502.00, which is $1,239,498.00 below budget. This includes the funding expended for Phase 1 of this construction project as well.
