Resolution - Engineering: Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Contract 15431, with Archer Western Construction, LLC, for construction services associated with the Low Head C Pump Station Project.
Item Summary
The Low Head C Pump Station Project is for the purpose of constructing a treated water booster pump station located at Pump Station 14. The Lake Alan Henry Water Supply Project was completed in 2012, with the ability to supply 15 million gallons per day (MGD) of water to the City of Lubbock. The design of the Lake Alan Henry Water system allows for expansion in the future to 30 MGD. The new treated water booster pump station (Low Head C Pump Station) near existing Pump Station 14, is needed in order to allow for this future expansion. This project is part of the Strategic Water Supply Plan adopted by the City Council on February 28, 2013.

Staff recommends award to the highest ranked proposer, Archer Western Construction, LLC, of Irving, Texas, in the amount of $8,540,415. Time for substantial completion is 485 calender days from the date the City provides notice to proceed with liquidated damages of $3,000 per additional day. The contract is awarded by the unit price and actual expenditures may be more or less depending on field conditions.
Fiscal Impact
$28,598,161 is appropriated in Capital Improvement Project 92450, Low Head C Pump Station and Pipeline, with $8,540,415 available for this purpose.
